WHY COMPOST?

We love everything about composting and want to encourage more people to give it a go. Your soil will love you and your waste will avoid going into landfill. There are so many win-win's to composting.

Composting is an easy way to make a big difference at a local level for the environment. It helps to lower greenhouse emissions, regenerates the soil, and fosters food security for the future.

Compost acts as a food source, a probiotic, and a sponge for the soil underneath it. This in turn makes soil more fertile and efficient, creating a healthy ecosystem for all plant life.

When you compost, as well as enriching the soil, you are helping to retain moisture and suppress plant and pest diseases.  It creates the perfect environment for the production of beneficial bacteria and fungi that break down organic matter to create humus, a rich nutrient-filled material. The whole process becomes life-giving.

The organic materials that make up compost usually include garden trimmings (after pruning), leaves, mulch, grass cuttings, some paper and cardboard products, food scraps such as raw and cooked fruits, vegetables and grains, eggshells, and coffee grounds. It truly has a ground-changing impact.

You may think the process of composting is complex, but we teach simple, time saving, efficient solutions to help you produce great compost in no time. We will be holding workshops shortly on how to understand more of the benefits of composting and how to get set up with your own composting system whatever size your garden or balcony is.
